Your Position

The NEBULA - Xplorer mission requires dedicated thin-film X-ray optics according to the Wolter type 1 set-up. Early 2026, we plan to build the structure and several thin-film mirrors.

The mirror modules need to be verified fully. For this, an investigation is necessary into thermal behaviour, vibration and shock loads, and notably the optical performance. A test plan, and several test procedures need to be determined, after which the actual quality of those mirrors is to be verified. Tests will be conducted at SRON, NLR and likely the Max Planck Institute (Göttingen, Germany) or the Attosecond Research Center (Milan, Italy). This assignment shall deliver the test plans, procedures, and results. A technical note is necessary to describe the overall quality of the mirror modules.
